Our last full day in Seville and we need to attend to several chores that we have left undone; buying our bus tickets from Cordoba to Granada, getting Annie a haircut (8 Euros with tip) and I thought mine in Porto at 9 Euros was a good deal > though my guy had the look of the Barber of Seville … hand signals only, no English spoken in either case.

Then wandered around the old town just taking in the sights and generally soaking up the atmosphere…

The apartment we rented was very pleasant and although we did not cook meals just looking out across the river felt luxurious (2nd floor would have been better in terms of privacy)…

.….and a final evening walkabout…

Loved our stay in Seville !!…. this could be one city to visit again!

Nice morning, had a hearty egg breakfast, gathered the balance of our stuff, and we are off…

…..taxi to the train station where for a change of pace we are renting a car. For the next few days we will be visiting the Pueblos Blancos of Andalusia. These are a series of towns and large villages in the northern part of the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga in southern Spain, mostly within the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park > first stop Arcos de Frontera.

This is not going to be an epic road trip as the distances are really short but public transportation is a bit difficult so we opted for the car alternative. We are renting from Europcar and being technically challenged opted for an automatic VW Polo. Having decided NOT to rent a GPS, we are determined to do this the old-fashioned way with a map in hand (albeit with the I-pad as back-up)….only 2 or 3 “loop de loops” and we are on the auto routa bound for Cadiz….then onto a smaller road and within about 1.5 hours we are in Arcos de la Frontera (didn’t even have time to eat our sandwiches)….

Parking as can be imagined is not simple, but there is a deal between our hotel and a sister property to use their garage…..no problem the hotel lady opens the doors and Polo is safely inside. We on the other hand need to lug our luggage up the hill to the old town where El Convento, our hotel for the night is located;

Really pretty town and we spent the afternoon checking out the few sights that are there….this is mostly atmospheric sightseeing…

The hotel is situated on a cliffside below the church and our room comes with a terrace….Annie declares this place to be a WINNER!! So laxing on the terrace is in order >>> beautiful sunny weather.

Dinner at the Taberna Jovenes Flamencos which was recommended by one and all…….Annie had the lamb tagine and I went with tuna accompanied by a local red recommended by the waiter (not plonk but a splurge wine)……a really lovely meal and the best wine of the trip > the waiter did us right !!

Afterwards a stroll back through the lantern lit streets …

….and after a final glass of wine on the terrace, the day is done.
