Piana, Corsica ….. a day hike on the Capo Rossa trail

We wake up to another AAA morning, run over to the Boulangerie and buy some croissants..have a quick breakfast, gear up, and head to the trailhead for the Capo Rossa Trailhead. It is 8kms from Piana …but you get the picture by now a pretty wild ride just getting there.

We arrive a bit later than we hoped and the sun is definitely making its presence felt…the trail is roughly 7kms  in and out and considered moderately challenging. It heads out onto a headland jutting out in the sea with a Genoese tower situated on the peak above.. We have 3 bottles of water figuring it should be plenty….and off we go. This was a beautiful hike …a bit tough under the unrelenting sun but a wonderful introduction to the local countryside !! A bit of a short post today ….tomorrow promises to be an exciting day.
