Vancouver, B.C.to Bangkok, Thailand……start of our Asian adventure

Welcome to our blog ……here we go …

October 29th

Well the day has arrived, we leave the hacienda in a Wet Coast mist …..

We actually are leaving a day prior to the flight to get our car serviced, buy some last-minute items and of course visit with our daughter and family > after all we will be away for a while and the young ones change a lot in a hurry. Living on the Sunshine Coast one is a hostage to the B.C. Ferry system which has its issues, so an overnight solves that problem and ensures a good sleep before the epic flight.

October 30/31

We wake up in good form and keen. The routine is familiar as we check-out of the hotel, take the Seabus and then the Skytrain to the airport. Annie has her rollie and daypack, Moosie (as usual) packs nothing >>> yes, she is accompanying us on yet another trip, and I am impersonating a backpacker with a 45 liter pack & a daypack.

At the airport we make sure to toast (figuratively speaking)  the war canoe for good luck …this is our normal ritual. If hockey players grow beards during playoffs for good luck, why not elderberries and war canoes …can’t argue with success!!

Last bits of Canadiana …

We are flying with Air Canada and at noon we are aloft, and aloft and aloft > 12 hours worth + 14 hours time difference!!!  The flight is smooth, food good, drinks equally so and the staff excellent, a far cry from our recent flights with Air Transat. We land in Hong Kong  at 16:00…

…then transfer to Thai Air and are wheels up at 16:40, for the 2.5 hour flight to Bangkok. Baggage, customs, immigration >>> all is good and we grab a taxi to the Old Capital Bike Inn……1/2 an hour  and  500 THB (20 Cad) later we are there. We are met with a welcome drink and in our room by midnight ….

>>>>>>>> safe and sound, but DONE & DONE.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
