It seems our luck is holding up as the morning, while cool, it is sunny…after breakfast in our room (no not room service but DIY) we leave Oak Harbor:
….and set off for Coupeville, a small picturesque village nearby…it is a pleasant, seaside town
Interesting sign in front of one of the establishments…
…….there are travellers and then there are travellers….these guys seem to have been everywhere…{www.chrigikoelbi.ch} their blog is tough to read unless you can read German….Annie looked quite interested >>> OMG where will she suggest we go next !!!!
Feeling a need for eggs we search for a local brunch eatery and stumble on Frank’s Place:
…the sign should have served as a warning……who the hell eats SPAM for breakfast or for that matter anytime????? Anyways it is a military themed resto, owned by a veteran and is kinda cool, although rundown…
the results speak for themselves:
After a forever wait (mixed up order) we get an overpriced trough of greasy eggs and whatever….oh well, this place should be a candidate for an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, in the Dives category.
On our way to Bellingham, WA we leave Whideby Island taking some pics of Deception Pass ….. a very photogenic spot…
…then head for Le Conner, another seaside village where the city fathers have done a lot to create a pleasant ambience to generate tourist interest…
Finally the Holiday Inn in Bellingham, where we will return the Avalon To Enterprise, and transfer to our car which Elizabeth (Ella) our daughter will be driving from Vancouver tomorrow…if all goes well!! The hockey spirit takes over and we head to the Extreme Sports Bar to watch the Penguins beat the Predators….we cheer for the ‘guins, as Syd is the Kid !!!….and enjoy some local brews & pizza served up by a super waiter/barkeep.
