A beautiful day dawns at the Baby Quail Inn … no driving today …YEAH!
…. during and after breakfast Dick Curtis the owner, actor and writer, known for Motel Hell (1980), Support Your Local Gunfighter (1971) and The Jonathan Winters Show (1967) regales the guests with stories of his days as an actor/personality……a bit corny but what the hell.
Before describing our day, it is time for: a RANT………newsflash: the USA joins Syria and Nicaragua as absentees from the Paris Accord >>> what could be more stupid….approximately 175 nations have signed on, and 97% of the world’s scientists agree that climate change is not a figment of someones imagination…..however, Donald knows better than all of these people (even his buddy Dictator Putin is in the Paris Accord), and, if this is not enough, his own Sect’y of State > ex CEO of no less than Exxon Mobil which is not only an Oil and Gas producer, refiner etc. but the world’s largest oil & gas company, counseled him against dropping out >>> well if that is what the people want, than the USA better prepare itself for domination by China !!!
In spite of the depressing news, it is gorgeous as we set on a hike on one of the many trails in the vicinity of Sedona. It is difficult to overstate what an incredible location this town revels in…….the setting is truly surreal !!! One can set off in any number of directions and be richly rewarded….to spend a week or a lifetime here would not be difficult. Without further ado we are on our way up the Little Horse Trail:

On the way back some neat looks at the Chapel of the Holy Cross built into the buttes…
It is getting hot now (mid 90’s) and we hot-foot it back to the trailhead…
In celebration of our outing we had a nice Japanese lunch, drove around looking at some of the fantastic retreats people have built for themselves, and visited the Tlaquepaque Arts & Craft Village…..unabashedly upscale and commercial, but done oh so nicely…
…..on to more mundane matters like picking up dinner and tomorrow’s lunch at Whole Foods and then returning to the Baby Quail to chill……tomorrow will be another huge day !!!!! Sedona (albeit expensive) is definitely on the returnable list.
