San Sebastien to Ardiege …….via Vic d’Aurbait
Categories France, France and Spain 2015........a roadtrip with a boat cruiseSeptember 29th
Today we are leaving San Sebastien (Donostia) and heading back to FranceĀ our wonderful stay in Espana over….we really would like to come back…adios!
Another beauty of a day, clear skies and temperatures going into the 20’s, as we motor down the autopiste to Vic d’Aurbait, where my colleague from BNP Paribas lives. This is foie gras country and here they are on the “hoof”….
Found his house easily even though it is off the beaten path….Miss Charm was having an “on” day….
Patrice and his wife happened to be in Canada on vacation (which we knew) but we took the opportunity to leave a bit of Canadiana for him, with his neighbour.
Then more driving to our overnite through nice rolling nice terrain (though not exceptional) arriving at our destination in the late afternoon. This was a gite in a tiny village at the foot of the Pyrennes > a great jumping off place for day trips into the mountains. The owner insisted we visit the nearby St Bertrand de Comminges Basillica so off we went. It was quite nice but not as spectacular as some of the sites we have visited.
On the way back we found a telecabin (a rarity) and Annie tried to call her sister with a calling card…..not a chance, oh well.
Back at our little “suite’ Annie took in a bit of country air.
Then had better luck with technology as the owner had just changed her internet provider…we were her 1st test case…..great stuff, best WiFi of the trip. As we were a little “restauranted” out, we decided to have cold cuts etc. in the room and just relax and reorganize our bags in anticipation of our next adventure…can’t let the cat out of the bag yet. And then, early to bed as we are bushed…
