Girona ……day trip to the Costa Brava

September 15th

Well after yesterdays exertions we have amended our plan and nixed Barcelona, we know……how can you do that …. well we can…. so off to the Costa Brava for another glimpse of the Med, first stop the medieval town of Madremanayo, arrived bright and early, walked around, took some pics there are a few neat looking hotels set in very old buildings…..but not overwhelmed.

Next up was Pujol…….no we are not kidding, the town where Galla (Dali’s Russian wife lived for a number of years and thereafter did he, until his death)…….so another visit to see this place….well it was en route to the coast:

and lastly this one in the garden:

Then a shortish drive to Begur, a hilltop medieval town which had a modest market day going on…..seemed like every second person was a Brit….got some sheep cheese, bread and sweeties and off to Sa Tuna.

What a location……really picturesque but featuring only house/condos and several restos …lunch on a bench with the best view in town then a stroll around…..

… and then off to see a few other beaches i.e. more traditional sandy ones which in the summer must be a zoo!!

Got back in mid afternoon and had to take a pic of our elevator….2nd floor and we get a ride >>> sure beat the human funicular in Avignon!!

In any event not our problem, so we had a siesta (we like this concept and it may become a staple when we get back home), then off to dinner…..again the first ones there:

…..never mind, a bottle of vino tinto softened the blow….It was a little bistro near the University called Km 0 (kilometer zero) featuring BURGERS……quite funny watching two dressed up sweet young things debating what type of burger to order and then watching them eat, it was a howl….fork & spoon >>> then watching them, watching us, eating by hand was even funnier……savage americanos!!!!
